Holiday Schedule
General Rule
For CWD-serviced trash and recycling, schedule shifts for major holidays are posted directly on the City of Farmers Branch website. Collections may be delayed by one day.
Yard Waste Exception
The City-operated Green Grabber observes additional holidays (Good Friday, Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day, Christmas Eve, etc.). If your brush day falls on a holiday, there is no pickup; service resumes the following week.

Never place plastic grocery bags, bubble wrap, or cling wrap in your blue recycling cart. These flexible plastics severely entangle the sorting machinery at the CWD recycling facility. Take bags to a local grocery store instead.
Do Not Bag Your Recyclables
While the city explicitly requires all regular household garbage in the grey cart to be bagged, your recyclables must remain completely loose. Bagged recyclables are often discarded as trash because workers cannot safely inspect the contents.
No Glass in Green Grabber Piles
If you are setting out bulk items for the monthly Green Grabber collection, ensure there are no mirrors, window panes, or plate glass in the pile. Shattered glass poses a massive safety hazard for equipment operators.
