Yard Waste Bin
Collected weekly (limit of 10 bags/bundles). Must be placed in paper compostable bags or tied with compostable rope/twine (max 30 lbs per bundle). Placed 3 feet away from regular carts. Dirt and mulch are not accepted.

Holiday Schedule
General Rule
If an observed holiday falls on a weekday (Monday-Friday), trash, recycling, and yard waste services for that day and the remainder of the week will be pushed back by one day (e.g., Monday moves to Tuesday).
Yard Waste Exception
Yard waste collection directly follows the same holiday schedule shift as regular trash and recycling.
If a recognized holiday falls on a Saturday or Sunday, there will be no delays in residential collection services.

Keep Styrofoam Out of the Blue Cart
Styrofoam (Expanded Polystyrene) breaks into tiny, unmanageable pieces at the sorting facility and cannot be recycled curbside. Toss meat trays and packing peanuts in your trash, but take clean Styrofoam packaging blocks to the Environmental Collection Center for specialized recycling.
Never Use Plastic Bags for Yard Waste
Frisco's yard waste is sent to Texas Pure Products to be turned into nutrient-rich compost. Plastic bags contaminate the mulch and will cause Waste Connections to leave your yard waste sitting at the curb. Always use brown paper yard bags.
Greasy Pizza Boxes Are Trash
While clean cardboard is highly recyclable, the greasy, cheese-stained bottoms of pizza boxes contaminate the paper recycling process. Tear off the clean top half to recycle in the blue cart, and throw the dirty bottom half in the black trash cart.

Winter
JanuaryFrisco provides curbside holiday tree disposal. Unflocked, live trees (decorations removed, cut to under 5 feet) will be collected on your regular trash day and composted. Flocked trees (sprayed with fake snow) must be scheduled for a special bulk pickup as they cannot be composted.
Spring/Summer
March - SeptemberBetween March and September, Frisco offers free compost to residents on the first Saturday of each month at the Environmental Collection Center (8 a.m. to 1 p.m.). It is first-come, first-served, with a limit of 2 bags per vehicle. Call ahead to confirm availability.
Autumn
October - NovemberDuring peak leaf drop, remember the weekly limit of 10 compostable bags or bundles. If you have a massive landscaping project that exceeds this limit, utilize your two free monthly visits to self-haul the debris to the Custer Road Transfer Station.

Automated Weekly Cart Collection
The City of Frisco partners with Waste Connections to provide weekly, fully automated residential trash and recycling services. Residents are issued a 95-gallon black cart for garbage and a 95-gallon blue cart for single-stream recycling. To guarantee pickup, carts must be wheeled to the curb or alleyway by 7:00 a.m. on your designated service day. It is essential to leave at least three feet of clearance between the carts and any obstacles like mailboxes or parked cars, with the lid openings facing the street.
Compostable Bags for Weekly Yard Waste
Frisco takes pride in diverting organic waste from local landfills by transforming it into mulch and compost at Texas Pure Products. Yard waste is collected weekly on the same day as your trash and recycling, but it must be prepared correctly. Plastic bags are strictly prohibited. Residents must use compostable paper yard bags for leaves and grass clippings, and bundle tree limbs (up to three feet long) with compostable twine. There is a strict limit of 10 bags or bundles per household per week.
Zone-Based Monthly Bulky Item Scheduling
Rather than a weekly free-for-all, Frisco offers a structured bulk trash pickup program. Each neighborhood is assigned a specific week of the month (the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, or 4th week). During your assigned week, you can schedule up to five large items (such as furniture or mattresses) for free collection. However, you must submit an online request to reserve your spot by 12:00 p.m. noon on the business day prior to your service day.
The Environmental Collection Center (ECC)
Frisco operates a comprehensive Environmental Collection Center at 6616 Walnut Street, providing residents a safe drop-off location for tricky materials that cannot go in curbside bins. This facility accepts household hazardous waste (HHW), electronics, cooking oil, and clean Styrofoam (EPS). Due to TCEQ permitting, the HHW and electronics drop-off is only open during specific hours (e.g., Wednesdays 1 to 6 p.m., Saturdays 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.), and residents must present a valid Frisco water bill to utilize the service.
Do-It-Yourself Disposal Perks at Custer Road
If you are undertaking a major cleanout, remodeling project, or heavy landscaping that exceeds Frisco's weekly limits, the city provides a valuable perk. Frisco residents are granted two free drop-off visits per month at the Custer Road Transfer Station located in neighboring Plano (9901 Custer Rd.). You must bring your driver's license and a matching, current copy of your Frisco water bill to bypass the standard drop-off charges.
