Holiday Schedule
General Rule
Sanitation Solutions operates on all major holidays except Christmas Day. If Christmas falls on your regular collection day, services will be delayed by one day for the remainder of the week.
Yard Waste Exception
Brush bundles and bagged yard waste follow the same holiday and weather delay schedule as standard trash routes.
Holidays like Thanksgiving, Labor Day, and Memorial Day do not disrupt service. Carts must still be at the curb by 7:00 AM on those days.
Observed Holidays
!Contamination Tips
Rinse to Prevent Pests
Sanitation Solutions requires all recyclable tin cans, aluminum, and plastics (#1, #2, #5) to be thoroughly rinsed before binning. Dirty recyclables contaminate entire batches and attract unwanted pests and bugs to your neighborhood.
Keep Paper Plates Out
While clean cardboard and magazines are highly encouraged, used paper plates are often contaminated with food residue and grease. They must be tossed in your burgundy trash cart instead of the recycling bin.
Proper Cardboard Overflow Handling
If you have excess cardboard that won't fit in your recycle cart, do not pile it up next to the cart on Wednesday. Instead, collapse it and set it next to your regular trash cart on your scheduled Thursday or Friday trash collection day.
Seasonal Information
Spring
March - MayWith spring cleaning comes extra waste. Remember you can place up to 2 bulk items per week at the curb. For larger home renovations, you will need to contact a local landfill directly, as construction materials like carpet and fencing are banned from curbside pickup.
Summer
June - AugustHot Texas summers require extra attention to odors. Ensure all loose trash is securely tied in bags before placing it into the burgundy cart, and never pour liquid paints or oils in the bins, which is prohibited.
Winter
December - FebruaryDuring extreme winter weather conditions or ice storms, collection schedules may be delayed. Ensure your bins are clear of snow or ice accumulation, and check the City of Royse City website for weather delay updates.
About Royse City Waste Management
Handling the Burgundy Cart and Extra Bags
Royse City issues a distinct burgundy poly cart for residential waste, which is collected by Sanitation Solutions [2.1.6]. If your household produces extra waste, the city allows you to place up to 10 additional bagged items next to your cart on your assigned Thursday or Friday collection day. Make sure all loose household trash is bagged before going into the cart, and ensure everything is placed at the curb by 7:00 AM.
Managing Bulky Items with Sanitation Solutions
Need to toss a mattress or an old couch? Royse City allows residents to place up to two bulk items out for weekly pickup on your regular trash day. If you place more than two items on the curb, it is entirely up to the truck driver's discretion whether to pick them up. Because of this, spacing out large cleanouts over a few weeks is highly recommended to ensure all items are collected without issue.
Brush and Yard Waste Specifications
Leaves and grass clippings must be bagged, not exceeding 50 lbs per bag, and you can place up to 10 of these bags out next to the trash cart. If you are trimming trees, you may place exactly one bundle of brush out per collection day. The brush bundle must be cut down to four-foot lengths, kept under six inches in diameter, tied securely, and weigh no more than 50 pounds.
Dedicated Recycling on Wednesdays
Unlike cities that collect all waste on the same day, Royse City dedicates Wednesdays entirely to recycling pickup. To ensure pickup, the front of the cart must face the street, and all cardboard boxes must be completely broken down. Never overstuff the bin, as items must fall out freely when the automated mechanical arm empties it. Also, any recycling left outside of the cart will not be serviced.
Syringe and Medical Waste Protocol
Royse City provides a strict protocol for at-home medical waste disposal. Needles and syringes must be placed inside a hard-plastic, opaque container with a tightly secured lid, such as an empty bleach or laundry detergent bottle. The outside of the bottle must be clearly labeled 'Syringes, Sharps, or Needles,' and heavily taped shut before being safely disposed of inside your burgundy trash cart.

Frequently Asked Questions
What time should my carts be placed out in Royse City?
All trash carts, recycle carts, and bulk items must be placed at the curb or alley by 7:00 AM on your scheduled collection day, but no earlier than 5:00 PM the night before. All empty carts must be removed by 10:00 PM on the day of collection.
Are extra trash bags allowed outside my cart?
Yes. Royse City allows residents to place up to 10 additional bags of household trash or bagged leaves next to the burgundy cart on their assigned trash day. Each bag must weigh no more than 50 lbs.
Does Sanitation Solutions pick up old refrigerators or TVs?
No. Due to environmental laws, the hauler will not collect refrigerators, freezers, appliances with Freon, televisions, chemicals, bulbs, or batteries. You must dispose of these items at a local landfill or recycling center.
How do I dispose of medical syringes safely?
Syringes and needles must be placed in an opaque, hard-plastic container with a tightly secured lid, like an empty laundry detergent bottle. Label the container 'Syringes, Sharps, or Needles,' seal it with heavy-duty tape, and place it inside your regular trash cart.
