Holiday Schedule

General Rule

Best Trash observes these six holidays. If your normal collection day falls on one of these holidays, your trash or recycling will NOT be picked up that day. Instead, it will be collected on your next regularly scheduled service day.

Yard Waste Exception

Yard waste and heavy bulk trash follow the exact same holiday delay schedule as standard household garbage.

If a holiday does not fall on your specific service day (e.g., Thanksgiving is Thursday, and your days are Tuesday/Friday), your schedule remains completely unaffected.

!Contamination Tips

Keep Recyclables Loose

Never put your recyclables inside a plastic garbage bag before tossing them in the green cart. Plastic bags wrap around the gears at the sorting facility, causing major mechanical jams. Keep all items loose.

Pizza Boxes Belong in the Trash

While clean cardboard is highly desired in the recycling stream, the grease and cheese residue found in pizza boxes ruins the paper pulping process. Always throw used pizza boxes into your black trash cart.

Rinse Out Residue

A single unrinsed milk jug or half-full soda can can contaminate a whole batch of clean paper and cardboard. Quickly rinse your bottles, cans, and jars and let them drain before placing them into your green recycling container.

Seasonal Information

Summer

June - November

During hurricane season, secure your black and green carts inside a garage or shed if severe winds are forecasted. Do not place large piles of bulk trash or brush on the curb if a major storm is approaching, as debris can block Sienna's storm drains.

Fall

October - December

As leaves begin to drop, remember that Best Trash requires all leaves to be securely bagged and weighing under 40 pounds. Piles of loose leaves will not be collected and may result in a code violation from your HOA.

Winter

December - January

Holiday cardboard boxes must be completely broken down and flattened before being placed in the green recycling cart. Excess cardboard that does not fit in the cart can be broken down and placed next to it on collection day.

About Sienna Waste Management

Understanding Sienna's MUD-Based Trash System

Because Sienna is a large master-planned community in the Missouri City area, utilities are managed through various Municipal Utility Districts (MUDs). Across these districts, Best Trash serves as the primary residential waste hauler. Every household is provided with specific carts to maintain community uniformity: standard household garbage goes into a black container featuring a distinct red lid, while recyclables belong in the green container. Depending on which Sienna MUD you reside in, your designated collection days will either be Monday and Thursday, or Tuesday and Friday.

Twice-a-Week Heavy Trash Convenience

One of the standout benefits of Best Trash's service in Sienna is the frequent heavy trash collection. Rather than waiting for a monthly bulk day, residents can place up to two large, bulky items out on every single scheduled service day. This means you can toss an old sofa on a Tuesday and a mattress on a Friday without arranging a special pickup. However, any appliances that previously contained Freon, such as refrigerators or freezers, must be completely drained by a certified technician and securely tagged before Best Trash will touch them.

Strict Yard Waste Preparation Guidelines

With Sienna's lush, tree-heavy landscaping, managing yard debris is a year-round chore. Best Trash requires all grass clippings and leaves to be placed in sturdy bags or containers weighing no more than 40 pounds each. If you are pruning trees, branches cannot simply be left loose on the curb. They must be cut into lengths of four feet or less, with no single branch exceeding a four-inch diameter, and tied securely into bundles. Proper bundling prevents damage to the truck's mechanical compaction equipment.

Navigating Special Collections and Non-Contract Items

If you are undertaking a massive home renovation or a deep spring cleaning that generates more waste than the standard limits allow, you don't necessarily have to rent a dumpster. Best Trash offers a specialized quote service for Sienna residents. By simply taking a few photos of your oversized pile or non-contract items and emailing them to [email protected], you can receive a direct price quote for a custom haul-away service, saving you a trip to a distant Fort Bend County landfill.

The Unique Holiday Rollover Rule

Sienna residents must pay close attention to Best Trash's holiday schedule, as it functions differently than many standard city programs. Best Trash observes six major holidays. If one of these holidays falls on your designated trash day, your service does not simply slide to the next calendar day. Instead, your collection is canceled for the holiday and pushed to your next regularly scheduled service day. For example, if a holiday lands on a Monday, your next pickup will happen on Thursday.

Frequently Asked Questions

What colors are the trash and recycling bins in Sienna?

Through the Best Trash service, Sienna residents use a black container with a red lid for regular household garbage, and a green container for all accepted recyclables.

How many bulk items can I put out each week in Sienna?

You can place up to two bulk items, such as furniture or rolled carpet, at the curb on every single regular trash collection day. Since collection happens twice a week, this is highly convenient for pacing out home cleanouts.

Does Best Trash pick up tree branches in Sienna?

Yes, but they must be prepared correctly. Branches must be cut into lengths of four feet or less, bundled, and tied securely. Each bundle must weigh 40 pounds or less, and no individual branch can be thicker than 4 inches in diameter.

What happens if a holiday falls on my trash day?

If one of Best Trash's six observed holidays lands on your designated collection day, your pickup is canceled for that day and shifted to your NEXT regular service day. For example, if your days are Monday and Thursday, and Monday is a holiday, your trash will be picked up on Thursday.
