Holiday Schedule
General Rule
Frontier Waste Solutions makes regular collections on most minor holidays. However, if Thanksgiving, Christmas Day, or New Year's Day falls on a weekday, all service routes for that day and the remainder of the week will be pushed back by one day.
Yard Waste Exception
Bi-weekly brush and bulk collection routes follow the exact same holiday delay schedule as standard garbage and recycling pickups.

Avoid Plastics #3, #4, and #7
Unlike some neighboring municipal programs, Schertz's recycling guidelines specifically prohibit plastic items bearing the resin identification codes #3, #4, and #7. To avoid contamination, strictly limit your plastic recycling to standard bottles, jugs, and tubs marked with #1, #2, or #5.
Glass is Good, Ceramics are Bad
While Frontier Waste Solutions gladly accepts clear, brown, and green glass food and beverage containers in the recycling cart, you must never throw broken bakeware, coffee mugs, or ceramics into the bin. They melt at different temperatures and will ruin entire batches of recyclable glass.
Unbag Your Recyclables
Keep all your recyclable materials loose in the cart. Never stuff aluminum cans or paper inside plastic grocery bags or garbage bags. Thin plastic films tangle the sorting machinery at the material recovery facility and cause severe operational delays.

Winter
