General Rule
Waste Management does not collect on Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, or New Year's Day. If one of these holidays falls on a weekday, collections for the remainder of the week are delayed by one day (e.g., Thursday customers collected on Friday).
Yard Waste Exception
Yard waste and recycling follow the exact same holiday delay protocols as regular garbage service.
All other federal holidays (including Labor Day, Memorial Day, and Independence Day) have normal collection schedules. Place your containers out as usual.

Never Bag Your Recyclables
While regular garbage must be bagged, recyclables must stay loose. Plastic grocery bags and trash bags tangle around the sorting machinery at Kitsap County recycling facilities. Empty your recyclables directly into the blue cart.
Keep Shredded Paper Out of the Blue Bin
Despite being made of paper, shredded documents cannot be effectively sorted by the automated recycling center machinery because of their small size. Dispose of shredded paper in your regular garbage or at a community shred event.
Double Bag Ashes and Litter
For the safety of Waste Management drivers, any powdery or messy waste such as cold fireplace ashes, sawdust, loose cat litter, or foam packing peanuts must be securely double-bagged before going into your trash cart.
