Holiday Schedule
General Rule
Waste Pro only suspends collection service on Christmas Day and New Year's Day. If your normal collection day falls on one of these two holidays, your garbage, yard waste, and bulk trash will be picked up on the following day.
Yard Waste Exception
Yard waste follows the exact same holiday delay schedule as regular household garbage.

Bag All Household Garbage
Waste Pro strictly requires all household garbage to be bagged before being placed inside the 96-gallon cart or any additional personal cans. Loose waste in the container is a code violation, and repeated offenses may be reported to the city.
Never Mix Yard Waste with Trash
Do not throw grass clippings or branches into your household garbage cart. Yard waste must be kept completely separate from household trash, properly bagged or bundled, and placed at the curb for the dedicated yard waste truck.
Safe Medical Sharps Disposal
Bio-hazardous medical sharps, such as used needles, are strictly prohibited in the trash. Deltona residents can drop off their sharps securely at any City of Deltona Fire Station or Florida Department of Health location, where replacement containers are often provided free of charge.

Waste Pro's Comprehensive Once-a-Week Service
Deltona’s residential solid waste collection is streamlined into a single day per week, serviced by Waste Pro. On this designated day, residents may see three different trucks handle their automated 96-gallon cart, excess bagged garbage, and bulk items. The city has a surprisingly generous weekly limit: beyond the main cart, Waste Pro will collect up to three additional trashcans and six large trash bags. To ensure collection, everything must be placed at the curb by 6:00 a.m. and kept three feet away from mailboxes and parked cars.
The Indefinite Suspension of Curbside Recycling
In a unique move compared to neighboring cities, Deltona officially suspended its weekly residential recycling pickup program in February 2019. Driven by decreased global market demand and soaring processing costs for materials like plastic and glass, the city opted to pause the program to save residents money. Currently, any items placed at the curb—even if they are in old recycling bins—are collected as regular household garbage and deposited into the Volusia County landfill. The city advises residents to hold onto their bins in case the program is revived in the future.
Four-Piece Weekly Bulk Trash Allowance
For standard bulky items like old sinks, furniture, and shelving, Deltona residents do not need to call ahead. You are allowed to place up to four large bulk pieces at the curb each week on your regular garbage day. However, this rule changes for white goods (large appliances) and tires. If you have an old refrigerator or need to dispose of passenger tires (up to eight per year), you must call Waste Pro or the City of Deltona Solid Waste Division to schedule a free, specialized claw truck pickup.
