Holiday Schedule
General Rule
If a recognized holiday falls on a weekday, garbage and yard waste collections for the remainder of that week will be delayed by one day.
Yard Waste Exception
Because yard waste is collected on the same day as household garbage, both services follow the exact same holiday delay schedule.
If a holiday falls on a Saturday or Sunday, residential collection schedules are not affected and remain on their normal days.

Keep Construction Debris Out of Bulk Piles
FCC Environmental will not pick up remodeling waste such as boards, tile, flooring, drywall, or cabinets during your free monthly bulk collection. You must hire a private franchise hauler for construction debris.
Disassemble Large Recreational Items
If you are discarding a metal swing set, basketball pole, or home gym equipment, it must be completely broken down before your scheduled bulk pickup. Any concrete bases attached to poles must be entirely removed.
Never Hide Hazardous Waste in the Cart
Do not throw pool chemicals, rechargeable batteries, wet paint, or pesticides into your FCC garbage cart. These items can cause fires in the trucks and must be taken to the Household Hazardous Waste center.

June to NovemberStorm preparation is critical in Florida. Because Lakeside residents are strictly limited to 3 cubic yards of yard waste per week, do not wait until a storm is named to do major tree pruning. Collection trucks may suspend routes if high winds approach.

March to MayDuring heavy landscaping months, remember that whole trees and land-clearing debris are not accepted curbside. If your pile exceeds the 3-cubic-yard limit, crews will tag the pile and leave the excess behind.
Post-Holiday Move-ins
Year-RoundIf you recently moved to Lakeside, the county offers a one-time courtesy move-in pickup for flattened boxes and bagged packing materials. This must be scheduled directly with FCC Environmental before placing items at the curb.
About Lakeside Waste Management
New Waste Hauler and Cart System for Lakeside
In October 2024, unincorporated Clay County, which includes Lakeside, transitioned its residential solid waste services to FCC Environmental Services. Along with this change, all eligible households received new standardized 95-gallon or 65-gallon garbage carts. To ensure smooth automated collection, residents must place these carts at the curb by 6:00 a.m. on their scheduled collection day, ensuring the wheels touch the curb and the cart is at least three feet away from mailboxes, trees, and vehicles.
The Discontinuation of Curbside Recycling
A major shift in Lakeside’s sanitation services is the elimination of curbside recycling. To prevent a significant increase in collection costs for all residents, county commissioners voted against including curbside recycling in the new FCC Environmental contract. Lakeside residents who wish to recycle must now take their clean, flattened corrugated cardboard and other recyclables to designated Environmental Convenience Centers, such as the nearby Long Bay or Rosemary Hill locations.
Strict Overflow Bag Sticker Policy
Lakeside residents can no longer simply pile excess garbage bags next to their trash carts. FCC Environmental strictly enforces a closed-lid policy. If your household generates more trash than can fit inside the county-issued cart with the lid completely shut, you must place the excess in a bag and affix an official Clay County Overflow Sticker to it. The sticker must face the roadway, and the overflow bag cannot weigh more than 40 pounds.
Repurposing Old Bins for Yard Waste
While the new FCC-issued carts must be used for household garbage, the county heavily encourages residents to hold onto their old, personal trash cans. These older bins are perfect for containerizing loose yard waste such as grass clippings, leaves, and small twigs. Garbage and yard waste are picked up on the exact same day in Lakeside, streamlining the weekly routine for homeowners.
On-Demand Monthly Bulk Collection
Lakeside does not have designated, unannounced bulk trash weeks. Instead, the county provides an on-demand system where each household is entitled to one free bulk pickup per month. You are allowed up to two large items (like a mattress and a couch) or three cubic yards of bulky material. However, this service must be scheduled in advance by calling FCC Environmental or submitting an online request. Unscheduled bulk piles left at the curb will be ignored.
