Weekly Collection Schedule
Official municipal pickup timing for Oxon Hill
Maryland curbside collections typically run weekly (Monday-Friday). Your specific household collection day is determined by your local county or city zoning schedule.
State Mandate
Maryland MDE requires strict separation of yard trim from standard refuse, and mandates food scrap diversion under state law.
Grey/Green (County-Issued) or Resident-Owned Metal/Plastic Bin (Trash)
All trash inside the cart must be bagged to prevent litter. Lids must be tight-fitting. You are permitted to place exactly one loose, securely tied heavy-duty plastic bag (maximum 60 lbs) outside the cart if needed.

- ✓Pet waste and used cat litter (tightly bagged)

If an observed holiday falls on a weekday, collections for that day and the remainder of the week slide one day later (e.g., Thursday collections move to Friday, Friday to Saturday).
Yard Waste Exception
Monday organics and yard trim collections will also slide to Tuesday if Monday is a holiday, subsequently shifting all other trash and recycling days forward.
Appointments for scrap metal and electronics (normally the third Monday of the month) must be scheduled in advance and may be impacted by Monday holidays.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the 'Clear the Curb' program in Oxon Hill?
It is Prince George's County's modernized waste collection initiative. It provides residents with standardized wheeled carts for trash, recycling, and a dedicated green cart for Monday organics and food scrap collection.
Can I leave large furniture at the curb without calling 311?
Yes. Under the county's updated bulk trash rules, residents can place up to four acceptable bulky items (like sofas, mattresses, or tables) next to their trash bin on their regular collection day without an appointment. However, metal appliances and tires still require scheduling via PGC311.
How do I properly dispose of invasive bamboo?
Bamboo is not treated as standard yard waste. It must be cut into lengths of 4 feet or less, bundled securely, and placed out with your regular household trash. The county accepts a maximum of four bamboo bundles per collection.
What happens to my trash pickup if there is a Monday holiday?
If a recognized holiday falls on a Monday, the dedicated Monday organics and yard trim collection shifts to Tuesday. Consequently, all standard trash and recycling collections for the rest of the week will also slide one day forward, ending with Friday collections occurring on Saturday.
