Holiday Schedule

General Rule

If a holiday falls on a weekday, service for that day and all subsequent days in the week will be delayed by one day, with Friday collections moving to Saturday.

Yard Waste Exception

Bulk and green waste pickups scheduled for Mondays or Thursdays will also slide by one day if an observed holiday disrupts the regular schedule.

The Waste Connections office is closed on Memorial Day, Independence Day, and Labor Day, but standard residential collection typically continues on schedule unless specifically notified via the Waste Connections app.

!Contamination Tips

Do Not Bag Recyclables

Always toss your cardboard and plastic bottles loosely into the green cart. Plastic garbage bags get caught in the machinery at the Waste Connections sorting facility, causing major mechanical delays.

Clean Your Cans and Bottles

Food residue can ruin a perfectly good batch of paper and cardboard. Quickly rinse out your milk jugs, soda cans, and food containers before throwing them in the recycling bin to prevent cross-contamination.

Exclude Construction Debris

Standard residential collection is strictly for household trash. Do not place drywall, roofing materials, heavy concrete, or contractor-grade demolition debris inside your blue cart or at the curb for bulk pickup.

Seasonal Information

Summer Yard Work

June to August

With Texas heat accelerating lawn growth, remember the strict weekly limit of four yard waste bundles. If you are doing major landscaping, you may need to schedule a private roll-off dumpster, as excess brush will be left on the curb.

Winter Holidays

November to January

Waste Connections typically observes Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's Day. If your normal pickup falls on or after these holidays, expect a one-day delay in collection for the remainder of the week.

Spring Clean-Outs

March to May

Spring cleaning means more bulk items. Remember you are limited to one large bulky item or white good per week on your designated Monday or Thursday bulk collection day, so plan your room clear-outs accordingly.

About Manvel Waste Management

Highway 288 Collection Geography

Unlike standard municipal routes, Manvel's waste collection schedule operated by Waste Connections is geographically split by Highway 6 and Highway 288. For example, residents east of 288 have bulk and green waste picked up on Mondays, while those on the west side are serviced on Thursdays. The City of Manvel does not directly bill for this utility; homeowners are invoiced directly by the hauler.

Handling The Blue and Green Carts

Regular garbage is collected twice a week in Manvel, strictly utilizing the designated blue carts provided by Waste Connections. All everyday household trash must be contained inside the cart, as any bags left loosely on the curb will be ignored. Meanwhile, the green carts are strictly reserved for recyclables and are universally collected on Fridays across all city neighborhoods.

Strict Bundling Rules for Green Waste

Maintaining Manvel's rapidly expanding suburban lawns requires adhering to specific green waste regulations. Tree limbs, brush trimmings, and shrubs must be tightly bundled, weighing no more than 50 pounds, and measuring less than eight feet in length. Residents are allowed to set out a maximum of four of these bundles alongside one large bulk item each week on their designated bulk day.

Freon Certification for White Goods

If you are upgrading appliances and need to discard an old refrigerator or air conditioner in Manvel, you cannot simply push it to the curb. All 'white goods' containing refrigerants must be professionally tagged and certified in writing by a technician confirming that all hazardous freon has been properly evacuated prior to bulk pickup.

Franchised Roll-Off Dumpster Regulations

For massive home renovations or construction projects that exceed the standard bulk pickup limits, Manvel residents must utilize city-franchised roll-off dumpsters. While homeowners can choose from multiple approved private companies, these providers must be registered with the City of Manvel, ensuring they meet the safety and reporting standards laid out in the local Code of Ordinances.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I set up trash and recycling service in Manvel?

The City of Manvel does not directly manage or bill for solid waste services. Residents must call the franchised hauler, Waste Connections, Inc., at 281-331-0810 to establish an account and receive direct billing.

What are the rules for heavy trash and bulk pickup?

Bulk pickup occurs once a week—Mondays for residents east of Hwy 288 and Thursdays for those west of Hwy 288. You can place out one bulky item (like a couch or appliance) and up to four bundles of green waste by 7:00 AM. Construction debris is not allowed.

Why didn't they pick up my loose garbage bags?

Waste Connections strictly requires that all regular household garbage be fully contained inside the provided blue cart. Any loose bags placed on the ground next to the trash container will intentionally be left behind.

Does Manvel offer curbside recycling?

Yes, curbside recycling is collected universally across all Manvel neighborhoods every Friday. Residents should place their loose, unbagged recyclables in the provided green container at the curb by 7:00 AM.
